Hey, did you hear? The Japanese just launched a satellite made of wood.
I’m intrigued.
The inspiration for this quirky little satellite came from a desire to reduce the number of metal particles introduced into our atmosphere.
The satellite, pictured above, is only 4 inches square. Once it arrives at the ISS, astronauts will release it into space. Telemetry from the satellite will allow scientists to see how well it handles the stresses of low Earth orbit as its orbit decays. The wooden satellite will then burn up upon reentry. Without a metal casing, the chances of particles entering the atmosphere greatly decrease.

Huge Science Fiction Series Event
Are you in need of a good book? I did a rough count, and it looks like there are over 80 different authors participating in the Book Blast. The books will be free for two days only: today and tomorrow, November 14-15.
There are more than 130 different titles, and they cover the gamut: dystopian to humor, first contact to cyberpunk, and hard SF to military. There are some top names in here, including GJ Ogden, Jonathan Brazee, and more.
Go give it a look. You might just find your next favorite read!
Huge thanks to author C. Gockel for hosting this event.
Countdown to Hell
The ore-order for the anthology, Express Elevator To Hell, is now live! Fifteen authors have come together to bring you edge-of-the-seat action.
Not your usual anthology.
This includes a complete novella.
Operation Sombra Strike is a 170-page (41,000-word) novella, written by Rick Partlow, James S. Aaron, Jeffrey H. Haskell, and me. And it was tons of fun to create.
So if you’re interested in a brand new universe imagined by the four of us, please show CKP Publishing that you’re interested by preordering now. The link is here, or you can click on the Express Elevator image above. Once purchased, the book will appear in your Kindle on November 29th!
(NOTE: Some of the links in this newsletter are affiliate links, which means I get a few pennies off any sale if you choose to buy…)
In the meantime, I’ll keep plugging away at Battlefield Diplomacy 3: Insurrection.
Thanks for taking a few minutes out of your day to stop by the Speakeasy!
Fair skies & tailwinds,
L.L. Richman
